Take Five for a Monumental View

The Hoylake and West Kirby War Memorial on The Wirral. It’s a place many people have vaguely heard about. Some people will say it’s somewhere in Liverpool. Better knowing people might say that it is definitely Merseyside.
I’m not quite sure where that leaves me as I know that whilst the east side of The Wirral is Merseyside, the west side of The Wirral is definitely Deeside. It’s a peninsula between the River Dee and the River Mersey. It’s a classic question of East or West, Mersey or Dee, Liverpool or Wales. To people familiar with The Wirral, you will realise that The Wirral is a place which should never be under estimated.
It’s true to say that regardless of whether you are on The Wirral or in Wirral, you are never much more than 5 miles from the sea, or 5 miles from a tidal estuary.
So, how on earth can it be that few people know of this stunning vantage point? Expansive views towards Snowdonia, across Liverpool Bay and much more.
Not to mention an intriguingly impressive monument dedicated to those who lost their lives in war. It serves as a venue for appropriate services and memorial events thanks to the natural amphitheatre beneath The Hoylake and West Kirby War Memorial.
There is a moderate walk from the closest parking or public transport location, expect to spend at least one hour enjoying the walk, views and taking in the location.
